This is Myra,
Since it’s the end of the year, I wanted to post this. I just wanted to take a moment to give a big shout-out to all our members. The club and I (and by that I mean myself and all the fantastic volunteers that I could not do this without) truly appreciate you all. Our members are the heart and soul of the Phoenix.
This is a labor of love–literally. None of us (not even me) take money for what we do. None of our volunteers are paid. (Some of our presenters and special presentations are paid for by the club.) If our members are our heart and soul, then our volunteers are the backbone that keep it (and me!) going.
The money from your membership and entry fees is what keeps the Phoenix running. All the money we take in goes to keep the lights on and the doors open, and what little is left over always gets put back into repairs or improvements. We all have day jobs, and take on what we do for the Phoenix in addition to that.
When I bought the Phoenix, I asked a group of people I trust to help me run it, because I knew this wasn’t a single-person venture. It can’t be, it takes a kinky village to do this. We do this because we all started out as members here and love the club. It was where many (most) of us were first introduced to the lifestyle, and we want to make sure it continues to be here to provide a safe and welcoming place for people to find their path.
So thank you for your support, and we’re looking forward to making 2017 a great year!
